The LILA series is a collection of documentary episodes showcasing cultures around the world that bridge spirituality with the arts.
These vignettes reveal how traditional cultures have used the arts (particularly music & dance) for spiritual communion, prayer and healing, and also show the evolution of these traditions and the challenges they are facing today.
For the second episode, the team set off on a journey to Turkey in the Fall of 2022 to explore another Sufi tradition; the Whirling Dervishes of Turkey.
In this episode, we explore the traditional + historical roots of this lineage, the symbolism of the Sema ceremony, the life & teachings of Rumi and how these practices are evolving in today’s world.
